About Green Mansions Foundation

A small team with a big, hopeful mission: helping people build communities worth belonging to.

Green Mansions Foundation is an IRS-classified 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN 95-4233035) based in Redwood City, California, with friends and partners across the United States.

We support the creation of foundational communities — welcoming, self-sufficient places where people meet more of their needs together — and we build technology in service of communities that technology has too often overlooked.

Our vision

A growing network of thriving communities that grow their own food, produce their own energy, govern themselves fairly, restore the land they live on, and create meaningful livelihoods — places where both people and landscapes flourish.

What we believe

Hope with a plan. Optimism works best when it’s paired with good structure, honest budgets, and patient learning.
Shared effort over shared ideology. Lasting communities are built by people working together — not thinking identically.
Sovereignty and self-determination. We don’t own or control communities. We offer frameworks and tools that respect their full autonomy — and the same principle guides our work with tribal nations.
Regeneration, not just sustainability. Going beyond “do less harm” to actively healing land, systems, and relationships.
Start small, learn constantly. Pilots before purchases. Celebrate progress, write down lessons, keep growing.

How we work

We provide frameworks, resources, and connections that help communities find their own path. We document what works (and what doesn’t) so each new community starts smarter than the last. And with Limiki Village, we’re putting our own framework joyfully to the test on real ground.
